éCO2mix - Cross border electricity trading
View the balance of power-trading schedules between France and the six countries with which it is interconnected: England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain.
Cross-border electricity trading
Cross-border trade between France and neighbouring countries
Every day, RTE receives the following day’s schedules for cross-border trade with neighbouring countries. On the day, these schedules are updated every hour so as to factor in the latest electricity exchanges.
The published data shows the balance of trade at interconnections with Great Britain, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and the Core region1 (border with Germany and Belgium) . The latter is the only French border where exchange capacity is determined using a flow-based approach, which maximises exchange capacity.
As of 27 June 2024, trade data is reported at 15-minute intervals. Data had previously been displayed at 30-minute intervals.
Note: the trading schedules cover cross-border trade between European market players, and must be distinguished from the physical flows over interconnectors. So, for example, the power flows related to a trade agreement between France and Switzerland will be distributed across different borders, depending on the electrical and technical characteristics of the electricity system, and its operating rules.
1 - Within the framework of market coupling, the "Core" region includes Austria, Belgiqum, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
