Xavier Piechaczyk has been President of the Managing Board since 1 September 2020. A chief civil engineer for bridges, waterways and forests, Xavier is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l'Etat and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He also holds a doctorate in political science.

Xavier Piechaczyk joined RTE in 2015 as a member of the Managing Board, Deputy Managing Director in charge of the Grids, Customers and Regions division.  

From 2000, he worked as a project manager for linear infrastructures, in the roads department of the French Ministry of Infrastructure and in the infrastructure department of the Ministry of the Environment. Between 2012 and 2015, he was advisor to the Prime Minister and then to the President of the Republic, and head of the department responsible for energy, transport, housing and the environment. Previously, as Deputy Director of Transport Services, he was responsible for regulatory issues, security, safety and the social aspects of land transport.
