RTE will be participating in the event through various conference presentations, poster sessions, panels and side events, and will also be running a stand at the technical exhibition – No. S160, Level 1.

Two questions for Claire Lajoie-Mazenc, scientific advisor at RTE, President of IEEE France

What are the major themes of this 2022 edition for RTE?

Our company's subject-matter experts are contributing specifically in four areas considered to be strategic: high voltage direct current (HVDC), the digitalisation of the electricity network, offshore power, and activities related to the environment, including biomimicry.

RTE is very active in these areas and is a leader on the environment. The environment has become a core theme of this CIGRE event. The subject of the environment previously only featured in discussions on the impacts of electrical work but is now factored into the discussion from the start of a project. For example, there is more and more talk about eco-design. The development of marine energies has accelerated this movement, as offshore infrastructure is built so as to respect the environment in which it is sited, in order to avoid harmful consequences for nature.

What is this event’s importance for RTE?

This is a unique event that brings together nearly 5,000 people from the world of energy. It enables attendees not only to gather technical information and hold discussions with international experts, but also to promote their strategic vision and projects and, importantly, to establish links.
In addition, CIGRE carries out pre-standardization work. Its working groups define the best practices to be applied in specific areas. These are then often taken up by standardisation bodies. It is therefore essential for RTE to attend these conferences and contribute to this work in order to understand and influence these developments.

Come and meet our experts at our stand in the Technical Exhibition – No. S160, Level 1

Our exhibition stand will offer information on topics such as the virtualisation of instrumentation and control systems, our software solutions, biomimicry, and our R&D projects on marine biodiversity.
